    Rane Willerslev opens Foburgh 2026.


    On Friday evening, anthropologist and Director of the National Museum of Denmark Rane Willerslev takes the main stage at the church in Faaborg town called “Heligåndskirken” with the talk:

    Why do we never learn from history?


    It will be the festival’s major opening question:

    Why do people, societies and those in power, again and again repeat patterns that history has already warned us against?

    Over the coming months, we will gradually announce the historians, writers, communicators, musicians and cultural figures who will be part of this year’s programme in Faaborg.

    The festival takes place from 30 October to 1 November 2026 and brings together history, debate, music, food, family activities and live public history across the town’s venues.
